How to Ruin Your Summer in 3 Easy Steps

If summer can be ruined in 3 easy steps, what might those steps be?

1. Grumble about the weather.

2. Complain about the crowds.

3. Blame others for any inconvenience.

In a moment’s notice, the joy of anticipation goes out the window, and in its place a sour pall descends. Am I right?

But just as ruinous as that list is, you and I possess the awesome opportunity to get rid of the grrrr. Instead of being dissatisfied, discontented, or disgruntled, we hold the moment to turn the tide for ourselves and for those around us. Listen closely, while I whisper The Secret:

Do not give others power of attorney over your outlook, your attitude, or your demeanor. Instead, give Power of Attorney over your spirit to the Holy Spirit. He, and He alone, is the true Power Source for an enjoyable day and an enjoyable summer.

Therefore,

  • in your car

  • in the line

  • in the crowd

  • on the beach

  • on the bus

  • at the pool

  • or at the fair

… make your outing memorable for the right (not ruinous) reasons.

In spite of, instead of, because of, in the midst of, even though, even when—allow God to use you as His game changer. Be ever mindful, this is not about perfection but rather about growth, growth in being a blessing.

May every place and company we are in be benefitted by us. -Valley of Vision

Living With Eternal Intentionality®

Godliness with contentment is great gain (1 Timothy 6:6).

In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NASB).

Which of The 3 Easy Steps most threatens to undo your summer outings? (grumble, complain, or blame)

What if, before your next outing, you get alone with God and commit the upcoming situation to Him? Ask that He enable you to release Power of Attorney over your spirit to the Holy Spirit, moment by moment.

Please come back to this conversation later and tell us if/how He made a difference.
