A Christmas Pause with Purpose

In the 2023 season of bustle and busy, finding moments to meditate on the significance of Jesus’ birth are few and far between. Yet, within every joy, amidst every crisis, on every level, in every situation — our hearts cry out, “Come, Thou long expected Jesus”!

So for just a bit, I invite you to take pause, light a candle, grab a festive mug of hot chocolate, and snuggle under a fuzzy afghan. Once settled, click this link, close your eyes, and sing along in worship.

Come, Thou long expected Jesus

Born to set Thy people free;

From our fears and sins release us,

Let us find our rest in Thee.

Israel's strength and consolation,

Hope of all the earth Thou art;

Dear desire of every nation,

Joy of every longing heart.

Born Thy people to deliver,

Born a child and yet a King,

Born to reign in us forever,

Now Thy gracious kingdom bring.

By Thine own eternal Spirit

Rule in all our hearts alone;

By Thine all sufficient merit,

Raise us to Thy glorious throne.

By Thine all sufficient merit,

Raise us to Thy glorious throne.
